Dolphins were spotted yesterday at the Hibiscus Coast Interschools Swimming Tournament.

Congratulations to Bridie, Charlotte, Rory and Alexander, who all performed FIN-tastically, even recording some personal bests in their swims. You were all superstarfish!!!

Helter-shelter

Another STEM challenge for our students today - this time to create a free-standing shelter that a member of their group could fit in. Prototypes were made using newspaper and tape and we discovered that triangles were very strong, stable building shapes.

We will use our ideas to build structures with more durable materials.

Get Writing

Our class has been part of the "Get NZ Writing" project, which has been excellent fun and has had us thinking creatively about ourselves and our school. We have completed a number of tasks to give our partner school - Pegasus Primary in Christchurch - a glimpse into our lives. Have a look at some of our work.

Time Team

As part of our social science this year, we are delving into NZ history, with a particular focus on local history. So it was with great excitement, that we visited Silverdale Pioneer Village to find out what life was like in the past.

We found out how the local area has changed and how the kiwi way of life has also altered from the early days of the settlers.

Old and new technology!

We were treated to the music of the pianola

We watched work in the old forge

It was hard work pumping water!

We had fun identifying herbs by their aromas

We learned how self-sufficient bushmen were.
