A small but determined Wentworth team attended the Interschools Chess Tournament earlier this term. With over 130 competitors, the challenge was on to find the thinkers and planners, who could plan and execute a battle strategy to capture their opponent's king. Each game had a maximum time limit of 30 minutes, with players aiming to stop their clocks from ticking down and force their opponents into making hasty moves or face timing out.
All our players performed well in their first-ever chess tournament. Special mention must go to Year 4 student Ananda - not only did he make the top table but he finished in 10th place overall.
